bullet Onions, cut into big pieces 1/2 kg
bullet Oil 1/2 cup / 100 ml
bullet Cumin seeds (jeera) 1 tsp / 5 gm
bullet Garlic (lasan) paste 1 1/2 tsp / 8 gm
bullet Ginger (adrak) paste 1 1/2 tsp / 8 gm
bullet Red chilli powder 1 tsp / 5 gm
bullet Coriander (dhaniya) powder 2 tsp / 10 gm
bullet Turmeric (haldi) powder 1 1/2 tsp / 3 gm
bullet Salt to taste
bullet Water 1 cup / 200 ml
bullet yoghurt (dahi) ¼ cup / 50 gm
  • Heat the oil in a wok (kadhai). Saute the cumin seeds for a few seconds. Add the ginger and garlic pastes and fry till well browned. Mix the dry spices in 1/2 cup of water and yoghurt. Add this to the wok (kadhai) and fry well. When the mixture leaves the sides of the pan, add the onions and stir well. Add 1/2 cup of water and cook on a low flame till the onions are tender but do not lose shape. Serve hot with bajre ki roti or missi roti.
