Leftover bread's best way to use is to make croutons. Croutons are bread's rebaked small square crispy bites that are seasoned by butter, oregano and cheese etc. It's added for flavoring in soup, salad and sandwiches. Enjoy your meal with these scrumptios croutons.

  • Loaf bread 1 (cut into small cubes)
  • Olive oil ½ cup
  • Butter 1 tbsp (melted)
  • Garlic cloves 2 large (minced)
  • Parmesan cheese 1/3 cup (grated)
  • Parsley 1-2 tbsp
  • Basil ¼ tsp (dried)
  • Oregano ¼ tsp (dried)
  • Thyme ¼ tsp
  • Salt 1 pinch

Cooking Directions

  1. Combine ingredients (except bread).

  2. Using a pastry brush, brush both sides of slices with oil mix.

  3. Cut into small squares.

  4. Another way to make croutons is to cut the bread into squares first, then pour the seasoning mixture onto baking pan and stir the croutons to coat.

  5. To make sure all are coated, they can be sprayed very quickly with olive oil spray.

  6. Arrange in single layers on cookie sheets.

  7. Bake at 300°F for 10-15 minutes or until golden.

  8. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.

  9. Note: If oven is not available then you can fry croutons in a large pan.
