It is no secret that Bangladesh is the master of South Asian desserts and sweets. This popular dessert "Rasmalai" also belongs to Bengali cuisine. Rasmalai is an innovation of classic Bengali sweet "Rasgolay".

  • Milk 1 liter (boiled)
  • Dry milk powder 1 cup
  • Egg white 1
  • Baking powder ½ tsp
  • Sugar ½ cup
  • Cardamom ¼ tsp (powder)
  • Corn flour 1 tbsp
  • Screw pine essence (kewra) 1 tsp
  • Almond and pistachio 50 gm

Cooking Directions

  1. In pan boil milk and add cardamom powder and sugar.

  2. Beat egg white and mix with baking powder and dry milk.

  3. Now make small balls and put these balls in boiling milk, cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

  4. Then dissolve corn flour with water and add to milk, cook 3 to 4 minutes more.

  5. Now for topping add screw pine essence, pistachio and almonds on it and turn off the flame.

  3. I added one egg yolk but it wasn't enough, so I added one more whole egg and the mixture became all yellow. I added some more milk powder. The dough turned out okay but when the rasmalai was cooked, the dumplings/balls were very tasteless. The milk was good, but how come there was no flavor in the balls?
