Ingredients

  • Rice ½ kg
  • Meat ½ kg
  • Tomato paste 1 cup
  • Onion 1
  • Salt 2 tsp
  • Oil 1 cup
  • White cumin 1 tsp
  • Green Cardamom 10 pods
  • Black Pepper 12 pods
  • Cinnamon 1 piece
  • Kabuli Chickpeas 1 cup (boiled)
  • Carrot 1 cup (grated)
  • Bay leaf 2 leaves

Cooking Directions

  1. In a pan, brown the onions then remove from oil and crush.

  2. Add meat in same oil and fry until changes the color.

  3. Add the tomato paste and crushed onions.

  4. Grind the white cumin, green cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon and wrap them up in cloth to make a spice bag.

  5. Add the spice bag and 6 cups of water in the pan.

  6. Add the bay leafs and cook until the meat is tender and 1 glass stock left then add the grated carrot.

  7. Add rice and kabuli chickpeas. Allow to cook for 5 minutes.

  8. Keep on steam for 30 minutes. Your dish is ready and served hot.

  2. Hello! I'm cooking this recipe while I'm typing this comment and I can't wait to try and and surprise my husband! But, I wish you were more specific as to when to add the salt and to what, and for my rice to cook I'd need to add more water,no? Do we drain the chickpeas if we didn't find the kabuli chickpeas and just bought canned? Plus biggest thing is what are the temperatures in everything I almost burned everything because I left it to where it was browning the chicken. I don't know I'm not a professional so I come to these places and need more details :) shukrun !
