  • Butter 4 ounces
  • Eggs 2
  • Milk 1 cup
  • All-purpose flour 2 cup
  • Cocoa powder 1/3 cup
  • Red food color one ounce
  • Sugar 1, 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • White vinegar 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • For Vanilla Frosting:
  • Butter 1/2 cup
  • Icing sugar 1, 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla essence 1/2 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven at 180C.

  2. Grease and flour 13-inch cake pan.

  3. For cake: beat sugar and butter in a bowl.

  4. Add eggs and vanilla essence and beat.

  5. Mix vinegar and food color in milk and keep aside.

  6. Sift flour, cocoa powder and salt.

  7. Fold dry ingredients and milk to the mixture and pour into the greased cake pan.

  8. Bake for 30 minutes or until springy when touched.

  9. Transfer the cake to the wire rack and let it cool.

  10. Halve the cake and spread vanilla butter on one piece of cake and cover with other piece.

  11. Cover all over cake with frosting.

  12. For frosting: Beat butter.

  13. Keep adding icing sugar slowly and continue beating.

  14. Add vanilla essence and beat until fluffy.

  15. Spoon the frosting over cake and serve.

  2. Dear Mariam Ghaffar, may be your stones were not fully heated up because you need heat for the cake. If icing sugar mix properly in butter there is no reason of crunchiness of sugar.

  3. I tried this cake. bt it didn't rise. I baked it on stones. was it a reason that it didn't rise? n butter cream was not smooth there was crunchiness of sugar in the cream. how should I smooth it?

  4. Farida vinegar is used as leaveining agent in this recipe as there is no baking powder or soda included. You can use any white vinegar which is available. thanks

  5. no not tried yet ,but i intend to . seems gud. but wat dont understand is vinegar ...why ?? are u sure no mistake printing or typing. and which vineger synthetic white one or natrual fruit one . i hope i get the answer .

  7. Madeeha, it might be less quantity of red food color that cake does not turn to red and beat frosting nicely to make fluffy icing.
