Grind together onion, garlic cloves and ginger piece to a smooth paste.
Heat oil, fry finely chopped onion till light golden.
Add ground onion paste, fry till light golden.
Add chicken and cook for 5 minutes.
Add salt, chili powder and turmeric with ¼ cup water, mix and cook for 3 minutes
Add well beaten yogurt with ground cashew nut paste.
Cover and cook on low flame till oil floats on top.
Finish with chopped coriander.
Serve hot with rice, Naan or Paratha.
