Beat together eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl until sugar dissolves.
Put a flameproof baking mold on stove and add sugar for caramel to it.
Let it cook gently until the sugar melts and turn golden.
Pour the pudding mixture on the golden caramel.
Put the pudding dish, in a pan of water, in a pre heated oven at 350 f for 45 minutes.
Take it out of the oven and let it cool at room temperature.
You can chill it in the refrigerator before serving or serve warm.
For Serving: Carefully run a butter knife around the egg pudding, place a platter over the pudding mold and carefully turn it upside down. Sprinkle bread crumbs over it and serve.

Mrs Shahid, might be you over beat the egg mixture because over beating creates air in eggs, in result it does not set.
Pudding was no doubt v tasty.but why it did not set even after steaming for more than 1hr.when I overturned in a plate it did not maintain its shape.plz advice

Kokil, You can make it easily in double boiler method. To use the double boiler, add water to the pan and bring it to a simmer, then place heat proof bowl on top, filled with pudding mixture and cover bowl and the pan as well. Cook nearly half an hour or until pudding set.

you can use stove top if you donot have an oven.Just add water in a pan and put the egg mix in a plain pan and put it on the water.Please make sure the pan with egg mix does not float and both pans are tightly covered so the water does not get into it.The time should be 30-40 minutes so it does not get too hard.Not sure about the bread cumb.you can use a measuring cup for the sugar...two cups shoud be fine or add to taste...thanks
