Hot and sour soup is a soup made throughout Asia and so there are many variations on how to make a good hot and sour soup. Below please find cooking expert Shireen Anwer's version of this wonderful soup.

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast (thinly sliced) 1
  • Egg 1
  • Bean curd (cut into tiny cubes) 1
  • Prawns (chopped) 6 to 8
  • Stock 6 cups
  • Bean sprouts 1/2 cup
  • Ketchup 1/2 cup
  • White vinegar 1/2 cup
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • White pepper 1 tsp
  • Corn flour 1 tsp
  • Sugar (heaped) 1 tsp
  • Chilli sauce 1 tbsp
  • Cabbage (finely sliced) 4 tbsp
  • Carrots (finely chopped) 3 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  • Soya sauce 2 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Marinate chicken breast and chopped prawns with salt, white pepper, and corn flour.

  2. Then boil stock, add in marinated chicken and prawns with bean curd, bean sprouts, sliced cabbage, chopped carrots, cook for 10 minutes.

  3. Now add soya sauce, chilli sauce, sugar, ketchup and vinegar, thicken soup with corn flour paste.

  4. Add beaten egg and remove from heat.

  5. Lastly add coriander leaves and serve hot.

  6. i tried this recipe very nice but instaed of adding 1/2 cup ketchup ,it should have been like 2 table spoon because ketchup has changed the colour and flavour of hot and sour
