Slice 2 onions and garlic very fine, and chop the tomato.
Grind together the chilies, ginger, 1 onion , peppercorns and chopped coriander leaves.
Mix together the meat, egg, ground spices and salt.Roll mixture into balls about the size of a small egg.
Heat ghee and deep fry koftas till nicely brown.
Drain and keep aside.
Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a saucepan.
Add sliced onions and remaining spices and add salt to taste.
Fry for 5 minutes.
Add tomato and cook spices till the ghee floats to the top, adding a little water if necessary.Put in the koftas and1 pint water and cook till the gravy thickens.
