Ingredients

  • Chicken1 1/2 kg (16 pieces)
  • Lemon 3
  • Green chilies 12 (finely chopped)
  • Oil 1 cup
  • Black pepper ½ tbsp (crushed)
  • Ginger 3 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Salt as required

Cooking Directions

  1. Add the chicken pieces in a wok along with some salt.

  2. Cover and cook on a low flame.

  3. When the water dries add black pepper, green chilies, ginger.

  4. Heat oil in a separate pan.

  5. Squeeze lemon juice on top of chicken and pour the hot oil on the wok.

  6. The Afghani karhai is ready to serve with naans.

  1. Dear Sania, You are supposed to use any cooking oil. Don't worry it will not stick with cooking pan. As the water of chicken dries up after mixing spices, pour oil in pan. If you are still in confusion after adding spices, sprinkle a little water with hand in chicken.

  2. Sounds fantastic, but can you please tell us if we are supposed to put any oil in the chicken, or just let the water evaporate, I'm worried about the chicken sticking to the pan without any oil. Thanks
