Ingredients

  • Brown sugar 2 cup
  • Sesame paste (Tahini) 2/3 cup
  • Milk 2/3 cup
  • For Flavoring:
  • You can flavor the Sesame halva with anyone of the following flavorings
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • Cocoa 1 tsp
  • Pistachios (chopped) 1, 1/2 tbsp or according to preference
  • Almonds (chopped) 1, 1/2 tbsp or according to preference

Cooking Directions

  1. Grease a small mold with butter.

  2. Cook sugar and milk in a sauce pan over medium heat to just under the soft-ball stage.

  3. Remove from heat and add Tahini and flavoring, but do not stir.

  4. Let it rest for 2 minutes.

  5. Beat the mixture with a spatula or spoon for a few seconds.

  6. Pour it into a greased mold and let it set.

  2. @Guest or you could just buy a giant bag of sesame seeds for 5 dollars rather than pay 8 for imported tahini, put them in a cookie sheet, roast them at 400 until they give off an aroma and immediately remove them, put them in a food processor with a little vegetable or olive oil and blend until a pastestore stuff will last 4 months, so will yours, sesame seeds will last over a year...

  7. Sabah Sami, use commercially packed Tahini. Its so much convenient. soft ball stage is referred to sugar syrup's cooking temperature of 235-245 degrees. For a soft ball stage test, drop a spoonful of hot syrup in a bowl of chilled water. Try to gather the syrup in water with your hand. If it has reached soft-ball stage, the syrup easily forms a ball while in the water, but flattens when removed.
