500 g mutton,
cut into 1 – 11/2 inch pieces
|

1/4 kg potatoes,
quartered |
 |
1/2 cup channa
daal (lentils) |
 |
1 tsp each
ginger and garlic paste |
 |
1 tsp green
chilli paste |
|
 |
1/2 kg tomatoes,
skinned and chopped |
 |
2 tbsp poppy
seeds, finely ground |
 |
25 g coconut
powder |
 |
1 medium onion
|
 |
whole garam
masala (consisting of 6 cloves, 6 pepper corns, 3 inch
stick of cinnamon) |

- Boil
mutton with ginger, garlic, green chilli paste and salt till
almost done, add water or stock for curry. Boil daal till
almost cooked, strain and add to mutton.
- Fry
sliced or ground onion in oil till pink, add whole garam
masala, mutton, daal, potatoes and poppy seeds. Fry a
little, add tomatoes. Continue frying and add coconut powder
made with stock according to directions on the packet. Boil
for a few minutes.
- Turn
off the heat.
- Serve
with tandorri roti.
