Chana dal, soaked in water for 2 hours 1 cup
Coconut 1/2
Raisins 10
Green chillies 2-3
Oil as needed
Salt to taste
Garam Masala:
Bay leaves 2
Ground red chillies 1 tsp
Ginger 1 cm piece
Cumin seed powder 1 tsp
Boil dal with salt till tender. Each grain of the dal must be soft and separate. Heat oil, add the garam masala and pour over the dal.
Fry small cubes of coconut and put in the dal. Add the raisins and 2-3 slit green chillies. Simmer till well done.
Serve with puris.
