Pomfrets, filleted cod 500 gms
Medium onion (chopped) 1
Salt 2 tsps
Oil as needed
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Dried red chillies 3-4
Rice 11/2 cups
Ghee 2 tbsps
Coriander leaves 1 small bunch
Garam masala 11/2 tsps
Lemon juice 1 tsp
Oil as needed
Salt 2 tsps
Wash and dry the fish and cut into pieces. Heat 1 tbsp. oil. Add turmeric powder, chopped coriander, chillies, garam masala and 1 tsp. salt.
Let it sizzle for 2-3 minutes. Then add the lemon juice and put in the pieces of fish and fry them well on both sides, so that the masala coats them.
When they are cooked, remove. Fry the chopped onion to a light brown, add the rice and salt and fry for 2-3 minutes.
Add 3 cups of hot water and cook till nearly done. Cook on a very low heat.
Let the rice cook till all water evaporates. Serve hot.
