bullet Fish (either rohu, katla, or mugul) 1
bullet Onions (sliced into thin rings) 3
bullet Sugar 1 tsp
bullet Curd 1 cup
bullet Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
bullet Salt to taste
bullet Oil as needed

Garam Masala:

bullet Bay leaf 1
bullet Cinnamon 1" piece
bullet Green cardamoms 2
  • Clean and slice fish. Lightly fry fish pieces in oil. In the same oil, add the garam masala. Then lightly fry onion rings till light golden in colour. Add fish.
  • Meanwhile, beat the curd with a tsp. of sugar, salt and very little turmeric powder. Pour this mixture over fish and onions.
  • Add green chillies. Cover and put a weight over the cover.
  • Place the dish in a pan of boiling water and steam for 10-15 minutes on both sides.
