bullet Chana dal 250 gms
bullet Mustard and fenugreek seeds 1/4 tsp each
bullet Onion seeds 1/4 tsp
bullet Ajwain 1/8 tsp
bullet Aniseeds 1/4 tsp
bullet Whole red chillies 4
bullet Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
bullet Sugar 1 tsp
bullet Bay leaves 2
bullet Ghee 1 tbsp
bullet Onion 1
bullet Salt to taste
  • Boil the dal and keep aside. Heat ghee and fry 1 chopped onion to a golden brown.
  • Add the above masalas and when they start spluttering, put in the dal, turmeric powder, salt, sugar and bay leaves.
  • Cook till well blended.
