bullet Broken wheat (dalia) 1 cup / 200 gm
bullet Clarified butter (ghee) 1/2 cup / 100 gm
bullet Aniseeds (saunf) 1 tsp / 5 gm
bullet Almonds (badam), blanched, halved 8-10
bullet Dry coconut (copra), slivers 1 tbsp / 15 gm
bullet Water 3 cups / 600 ml
bullet Sugar 1/2 cup / 100 gm
bullet Green cardamoms (choti elaichi), crushed 4
 
  • Heat the clarified butter in a wok (kadhai). Add the aniseed and let them crackle. Add the broken wheat and stir-fry till it is well browned. Add the almonds, coconut and water; bring to a boil. Lower the flame and cook till the broken wheat becomes tender. Add the sugar and stir till it dissolves completely. Remove from the flame, garnish with a few slivers of almonds and cardamoms.

    Cooking time: 30 min.
    Serves: 4-6
