A delicious yoghurt accompaniment to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.

bullet Yoghurt 600 gm/2 1/2 cups
bullet Black Peppercorns 2.5 gm/ 1/2 tsp
bullet Chilli powder to sprinkle a pinch
bullet Coriander seeds 5 gm/1 tsp
bullet Cucumber, chopped 30 gm/2 tbs
bullet Cumin (jeera) seeds 5 gm/1 tsp
bullet Green chilli, finely chopped 5 gm/1 tsp
bullet Mint, chopped 5 gm/1 tsp
bullet Onions, chopped 30 gm/3 tbs
bullet Salt to taste
bullet Tomatoes, chopped 30 gm/2 tbs
  • Heat a griddle and broil cumin, coriander seeds and pepper till dark and aromatic. Pound and keep aside. Whisk yoghurt with salt. Add and mix all chopped items. Pour into a glazed earthenware bowl. Sprinkle with chilli powder and the pounded masalas.
  • Note: 60 gm/4 tablespoons squeezed pineapple chunks can be added for variation.
  • Time:
    Preparation: 30 minutes
  • To Serve: Chill before serving.
