bullet Dates (khajoor), destoned, Cut into strips 500 gm
bullet Raisins (kishmish), washed, Soaked in hot water 1 cup / 100 gm
bullet Tamarind (imli), lemon-sized balls 3
bullet Jaggery (gur) 11/4 cups / 250 gm
bullet Water 2 cups / 400 ml
bullet Salt to taste
bullet Red chilli powder 1 tsp / 2 gm
bullet Cumin (jeera) seeds, roasted, Powdered 1/2 tbsp / 3 gm
bullet Ginger powder (sonth) 1 tsp / 2 gm
  • Soak the tamarind and jaggery in water for 30 minutes. Mash the soaked tamarind well and strain removing all the liquid and pulp. Add salt, red chilli powder, cumin powder, and ginger powder. Mix well. Add the dates and drained raisins; mix well. Let it rest for 30 minutes before serving.
