As the name implies, this dough is prepared with yeast. All ingredients should have room temperature. Dry yeast has been used in all the recipes. For more information about yeast. In most cases the dough is mixed and kneaded like a bread dough; and has to be left in a warm place to rise to twice its size, then shaped and again left in a warm place to rise for a short period before being baked. The oven has to be preheated.

Basic ingredients
(From the Garland recipe)
 
bullet 500 g white flour and
bullet 2 teaspoons dry yeast place into a big bowl and mix.
bullet 200 ml milk pour into a saucepan and heat up to a temperature where you are just about able to dip the finger in (about 60°C).
bullet 100 g salted butter add to the milk
bullet 100 g sugar add and dissolve, remove from heat
bullet 1/4 teaspoon salt add
bullet 2 eggs, slightly beaten add and mix these ingredients with flour and yeast to make a soft dough; knead on a floured surface until smooth.
  • Kneaded dough before risen.

  • Making a plait.

  • Dough risen to double its size.

  • Placing the plait into the baking tin.
