  • Flowers are one of the most beautiful creations of nature. They serve so many purposes, as for as human feelings are concerned. Whether you want to say ‘I love you’, express your friendship or feel like saying sorry, flowers convey everything. At the same time, they also serve as the perfect gift for occasions like birthday, anniversary, engagement, wedding, and the like. Flowers can also be used for adorning a simple corner of your drawing room & turn it into something very appealing.

  • Arranging Flowers

  • Before placing flowers in any part of your house, you need to make sure that they are arranged properly. Follow these instructions given below:

  • • First of all, you need to get fresh flowers for yourself. Along with that, also arrange for greenery and a freshly washed vase.

  • • Take all the flowers and greenery and keep them in a large container or bucket that has been filled with water, till they are ready for use.

  • • Buy floral foam from the market and cut it in such a way that it fits the vase snugly and extends 1 inch above the rim.

  • • Now, take a bowl and fill it with cool water. Place the floral foam in this bowl and let it take up the water naturally, for about 20 seconds.

  • • Take cool water and add floral preservative to it. Use this water to fill the vase, to the top.

  • • Make sure that the water does not cover any blossoms and there are no leaves under water.

  • • Place the vase at a place that is away from drafts and direct sunlight.

  • Preserving Flowers

  • Follow these simple steps to make your fresh flowers last longer.

  • • Once you cut stems place in fresh water as soon as possible.

  • • Use warm water, as stems consume warm water more easily than cold water.

  • • Flowers drink water from the end of stems and not from the sides of stems, so don't fill up to the top with water as foliage left on the stem below water will rot and pollute the water, creating bacteria & killing flowers off quickly.

  • • When cutting stems, cut in a slanted angle so that flowers consumer more water quickly.

  • • Remove foliage on the lower section of stem that will come under water.

  • • Avoid overcrowding a vase with flowers; allow enough air to circulate around each flower.

  • • Condition your flowers by placing them in a bucket full of water in a cool dark place so that the flowers can have a long drink before being arranged. Leave them for at least 5-6 hours or overnight, it will allow the stems to fill up with water and the flowers become crisp. Conditioned flowers last twice as long as those that have not been conditioned.

  • • Use flower preservatives to make flowers last longer, you then need to change water twice a week.

  • • If you do not use preservatives then change water and re-cut stems at an angle daily.
