Is this pie not looking something fancy? May be you are thinking that it would be difficult to make, but not at all. You just need pie dough and heart shaped cookie cuter to make these lovely hearts. For filling I used strawberries as there were fresh available, but you can swap them with some other pie fruit like peach or apple.
Frozen pie crust 1
Pie crust for hearts
Strawberries 3-4 cups (chunks)
Sugar ½ cup
Water ½ cup
Cornstarch 3 tbsp
Egg 1 (beaten)
In a bowl add strawberries and coat with sugar.
In a sauce pan boil water, cornstarch and strawberries about 10 minutes.
Let it cool.
In the meanwhile do the rest of procedure.
Divide pie crust in two parts and roll out both dough parts on a flat surface.
Cut out hearts using heart shaped cookie cutter.
Set frozen pie crust in a pie pan and when strawberries are cool pour into a pie shell.
Brush one side of the heart with egg white wash and firmly assembles them on pie crust.
This is the first row of hearts; continue to cover the gaps with hearts.
Brush the hearts with egg white and sprinkle with icing sugar. Bake in moderate oven 200-300 degree for 20-25 minutes or the crust gets a golden color.
The perfect sweet pie is ready to serve.
If you don’t have frozen pie crust, you can use ordinary pie crust.
