  • I know how it feels like to watch yourself age every single morning. If only I could stop time for a while cause I'm not ready to be considered mid-aged yet. No point in wishing that cause this is simply impossible. However, there are a few anti-aging tips that could make you look and feel young. Remember, what you feel is what you appear to be. So just forget all about the blown birthday candles and start working on these forty anti-aging tips.

These forty anti-aging tips will keep you feeling young as you age. Learn how to feel and look young while you age by following these forty anti-aging tips.

    1. Avocado oil
Many believe avocado oil is great for anti-aging because of its ability to absorb into the deep tissues of the skin, making it ideal for mature and dry skins. It is also high in sterolins, which can reduce those giveaway age spots.

  • 2. Baby bottom butter
This is an anti-aging cream for women. The baby bottom butter has a camomile scent and contains olive oil and lavender oil to gently nourish the skin and help fight irritation.

  • 3. Be positive
A positive outlook can work wonders on those wrinkles! Worries and negativity affect you physically and emotionally and cause wrinkles to appear. Have a positive outlook in life and you will see your body responding to the change.

  • 4. Blusher
'Skin tone turns more ashen as we age, so use a pink cream blush on the apples of your cheeks to add a healthy glow to your skin! The cream texture is also great for giving skin a plump, dewy finish.'

  • 5. Caffeine
Dark eyes and puffiness can be a major contributor to looking older, and many believe that the anti-inflammatory properties in caffeine can de-puff and reduce swelling while increasing circulation to reduce and brighten dark circles. Keep an eye out for face creams with caffeine in them.

  • 6. Collagen marshmallows
It's the latest anti-aging craze from Japan, they contain collagen peptide, which is reputed to help reduce the effects of aging skin.

  • 7. Eat well
It's might sound obvious but eating healthy can make you look and feel good outside as well as in. Too much meat and full-fat dairy can increase wrinkles, so instead up your intake of foods that are rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids like fruit, veg and fish.

  • 8. Eyebrows
"Eyebrows can become sparser and less defined with age, and over-plucking them can be a major contributor to looking older. Only ever pluck from below the brow and resist the temptation to over-pluck, use a brow powder or pencil in a natural colour to fill in the brow for a 'fuller' look and use a brush to tame strays."

  • 9. Eye cream
'Does your make-up cake in the creases around your eyes? Apply a tiny, rice-sized dot of eye cream around each eye when your foundation starts to do this. It will plump and hydrate the lines and disperse the make-up.'

  • "Every woman over 28 should invest in a great eye cream. Apply every morning and night using circular motions around the eyes, taking care not to rub the eyes hard as this can encourage lines."

  • 10. Eyeshadow
'Stay clear of metallic eye shadows! The shimmer particles will sit in lines and wrinkles, drawing attention to them.'

  • 11. Foundation
'Young skin is plump, fresh and dewy. Fake this effect by swapping heavy foundations with an ultra nourishing tinted moisturiser. These evens out skin tone without looking too dry, and won't draw attention to lines and wrinkles.'

  • 12. Go bright!
"Wear bright colours near your face to lighten it up. Drab colours like black and brown drain the energy from you and make you look older."

  • 13. Go curly
Wavy, bouncy hair makes you look younger. Throw away the straightening irons (flat, straight hair will draw your face down making it look less youthful and plump) and invest in some rollers or curling tongs if you don't have any natural movement in your hair.

  • 14. Hair colour
If you once had dark hair and are now grey, consider going lighter than your original colour. And avoid a single black colour. Having several different shades in your hair will make it seems more natural and will soften your grey roots when they start coming through.

  • 15. Hair masks
To rehydrate over-styled or coloured hair, treat it to a monthly warm olive oil hair mask. Just heat two tablespoons of oil up and massage them thoroughly into your scalp, then wrap your head in a towel soaked through with hot water. Do this a few times to make sure every inch of your head has benefited. Health, shiny hair will knock years off you.

  • 16. Hair volume
A bit of volume can make you look years younger. Hair can start to thin as we get older - in some cases women can find they lose up to 50% of their hair density.

  • 17. Hands
"Hands can be the first thing to give away your age. Use a good hand cream every day and give them a treatment once a month. For a treatment you can do at home, mix 250 ml of cheap, natural yoghurt with a tablespoon of honey. Spread this thickly all over your hands and then either wrap them tightly in cling film, or put them in two freezer bags (you might need someone else to help with this!). Let them sweat for about 15 minutes, remove and rinse off. Your hands will be amazingly soft and smell great."

  • 18. Jojoba
"Jojoba makes skin super soft and minimises fine lines and wrinkles. It's quite expensive though, so dilute 5 drops into almond oil, which is great (and cheap!) carrier oil."

  • 19. Laughing
A laugh a day can keep your wrinkles at bay! Research has shown that a good chuckle helps manage stress and prevents the release of damaging hormones into the body.

  • 20. Lipstick
'Lips get thinner with age so avoid wearing really dark, matte shades of lipstick? This will just make your lips look even smaller. Instead go for glossy textures in a similar shade to your natural lip colour.'

  • 21. Oysters
They're not just an aphrodisiac but can also enhance the beauty of your skin. Oysters contain vitamin B12 and iron, which help beat pale or yellow skin and dark circles under the eyes.

  • 22. Perfume
A fresh, zesty, citrus scent could take years off you. Age is as much about perception as it is actual appearance, so try a 'young' smelling fragrance and put some youthful vibes out there.

  • 23. Pilates
Pilates can build your body's core strength gradually through balancing, stretching and correct breathing techniques, taking years off the way you look and feel. The combination of exercises is particularly great for women over 40 who don't exercise regularly. You'll look 10 years younger before you know it!

  • 24. Posture and your back
Women in particular are prone to curvature of the spine as bones start to soften as you get older. To keep your back straight and in good order, take a tennis ball, stand against a wall and place the ball at the base of your spine. Now bend your knees, keep your back straight and roll the ball up your spine to your neck. Then start to stand up until it's back at the base of your spine. Do this 20 times every day to improve posture.

  • 25. Protect your skin
It's a known fact that extreme sun exposure can cause premature skin-aging, so make sure you apply a high SPF sun cream to shield your skin from the rays if you're out in the sun.

  • 26. Puzzles
We all know that keeping our bodies fit can help us feel younger, but what about our brains? Keeping your brain active is important in protecting against Alzheimer's, so why not have a go at some Suduko, crosswords and electronic games?

  • 27. Relax
Dead Sea salts have been used to keep the skin looking young for thousands of years. The minerals found in them help the skin maintain moisture, keep it looking full and youthful. A good soak once a week in a Dead Sea salt bath will do your body wonders.

  • 28. Retinol
Retinoic acid sounds scary but is a form of vitamin A and proven to have anti-aging effects on the skin. It's a popular ingredient in a lot of anti-aging skin care and many swear by its effects.

  • 29. Sleep
They call it beauty sleep for a reason! When you're asleep all the cells in your body repair and recover, as well as releasing melatonin, which can really boost your skin and immune system. Make sure you get at least 7 hours and you'll be defeating the aging process with your eyes closed!

  • 30. Spinach
This leafy vegetable is rich in an antioxidant called lutein, which is not only great for preventing wrinkles by helping your skin to retain its moisture and elasticity, but also has high levels of vitamins K and C, which help reduce dark circles under your eyes by boosting circulation and strengthening capillary walls.

  • 31. Stop smoking
We all know smoking's bad for you, but as well as the problems it causes on the inside, it also makes you look older. It creates 'puckering' wrinkles around the mouth, reduces collagen in the skin - which makes it saggier - and stops blood flow, and therefore oxygen, to the skin.

  • 32. Stress
Stress can be a major contributor to accelerating the aging process. It upsets our normal bodily balance, which can speed up skin aging - lines, wrinkles and sagging skin are the outward signs of all that inner turmoil. Learning to manage stress more positively will be a real boost for your own healthy aging.

  • 33. Swimming
Building core strength through exercise as you get older can help to firm up that stubborn abdominal flab, build flexibility and prevent back problems associated with aging. Swimming provides a good form of aerobic exercise and builds these core muscles in a less-strenuous way than other exercises.

  • 34. Teeth
Looking after those pearly whites can take years off your appearance. Using a good toothpaste and electric toothbrush as well as flossing regularly will mean healthy and brighter teeth, making you look and feel younger.

  • 35. Thread veins
Protect yourself from thread veins by covering up in the sun, doing leg exercises, not crossing your legs when you're sitting down and binning those killer heels.

  • 36. Vitamin B
Vitamin B can help to improve the condition of mature hair, whether found in vitamin B-rich foods such as fresh vegetables, non-citrus fruits, soya milk or whole grains, or in an over-the-counter supplement.

  • 37. Water
Dermatologists advise that hydration is essential to younger looking skin and drinking water is vital to the process. You should be drinking 2.5 litres a day. If this seems a lot, try drinking water throughout the day at regular intervals, and eating fresh fruit and veg which contains lots of water too.

  • 38. Watermelon
When it comes to anti-aging fruit, watermelon might just be top of the pile. Both the flesh and seeds of the watermelon are nutritious: the flesh contains vitamin A, B and C; the seeds contain selenium, essential fats, zinc and vitamin E, all of which help against free radical damage and aging.

  • 39. Wheatgerm oil
Wheatgerm oil can be perfect for nourishing dry, mature, dehydrated skin because it contains skin-friendly vitamin E. What's more, the oil contains a high amount of octacosanol, which can enhance exercise. So not only may you be getting younger looking skin, but you may gain a bit of youthful drive to exercise too!

  • 40. Yoga
Yoga can get rid of your double chin, firm up skin, help keep your spine supple, remove tension, strengthen abdominal muscles, improve those dreaded 'bingo wings' and correct poor posture. You'll look 10 years younger before you know it!
