This week we bring you recipes in how to make toning lotions at home; this easily forgettable lotion should be part of your daily facial routine care as it removes any dead skin cells, dirt, excess oil that has not been removed by the cleanser, as well as helps to unclog pores and prevent acne.

Green Tea Thyme Toner

Combine 4 to 5 good quality green tea bags or several heaping teaspoons of green tea leaves, 1/3 to 1/2 cup of fresh thyme roughly chopped 2 cups of mineral or vitamin water, all ingredients in a small pot. Bring the pot to a boil then turn down the heat and let simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and let the tea and thyme steep until cool.

This will make a rich, highly concentrated green tea and thyme solution. Squeeze out each tea bag thoroughly over the pot; press the thyme with the back of a spoon to release every bit of the herb, and then strain liquid into a container.

The tea thyme toner can be kept for at least a week in the refrigerator. Thyme and tea together promotes circulation in addition to possessing antioxidant, astringent, antibacterial, and antifungal properties.

Home Made Apple Toner

Take 1 apple. Remove the core and skin of the apple. Place the apple, chopped into quarters, into a blender with 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey. Puree the mixture. Gently spread the mixture all over your face and let it rest for 12 to 15mins. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and gently pat your skin dry.

Cucumber Skin Toner

This toner is good for closing pores and cleaning your face.  Blend 1 cucumber that has been peeled and seeded and 1/2 teaspoon honey, in a blender until it is smooth. Apply with a cotton ball. Store in a clean bottle and keep it in the refrigerator.

Toner for Dry Skin

Mix together 2 tbsp. lemon juice, 1 tbsp. glycerine and 3 tbsp. rose water and apply with cotton wool.

Toner for Oily Skin

Rub potato slices over the face and neck. Wash off after 15 minutes.

Fruity Toner

Mix together 1/4 cup Cucumber Juice, 1/8 cup Carrot juice, 1/2 cup Spearmint infusion(herbal tea)-optional, and 1/2 cup Lemon juice and blend well. Freeze this mixture in ice cube tray, and when you want to apply simply take out an ice-cube and rub all over your face.

Aloe-Vera Toner

Take one tea spoon Aloe-Vera gel and add half tea spoon lemon juice in it and mix. Apply with cotton wool.
